Gwinnett County detectives have made an arrest in a tragic case involving the fatal stabbing of a woman at an apartment near Norcross, Georgia.
The incident happened around 6 p.m. last Friday when officers were called to an apartment complex on Hunters Club Lane. When they arrived, they found the lifeless body of 28-year-old Ana Karen Ramos Hernandez. According to police, she had been stabbed at least once. Sadly, there was nothing that could be done to save her.
“By the time officers arrived, it was already too late to help her,” said Cpl. Juan Madiedo while speaking with the media on Friday.
After investigating, detectives identified 26-year-old Kurt Sebastian Omana Torres as the suspect. Arrest warrants were issued, charging him with several serious crimes, including malice murder, felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a weapon during the commission of a felony.
The search for Torres ended earlier this week. Authorities announced that he was taken into custody on Monday afternoon, just before 2 p.m. Officials confirmed the arrest was made without any trouble, and Torres will be taken to the Gwinnett County Jail to await further legal proceedings.
For anyone with additional information about this case, there is a cash reward being offered for details that lead to both an arrest and an indictment. Detectives continue to encourage people to come forward to ensure justice is served.
