A scary incident unfolded on Sunday afternoon in Chicago’s Hegewisch neighborhood, leaving three people hurt, including a 4-year-old girl.
It all happened around 5:25 p.m. on South Carondolet Avenue, in the 14400 block, when shots were fired outside a home. Inside the house were a 23-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman, who were both struck by the gunfire. The man was hit on his right side and was rushed to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where doctors say he’s in serious condition.
The young woman was hit in her right shoulder. Thankfully, her injuries weren’t as severe, and she’s said to be in good condition at the same hospital.
Sadly, a 4-year-old girl was also caught in the crossfire. She was shot in her right leg and taken to Comer Children’s Hospital. The doctors there say she’s doing well and is in good condition, which is a huge relief.
As of now, no arrests have been made, and investigators are still looking for the person responsible. It’s a heartbreaking situation that has left a family and a community shaken, and everyone is hoping for answers soon.
Police are continuing to investigate the shooting. If anyone knows anything about what happened, they’re encouraged to come forward and help bring justice to those affected.
