Tully, NY – A shocking case of animal cruelty has led to the arrest of a Central New York man after authorities discovered multiple dead and abandoned animals inside his former home.
Charles E. Kehrer, 42, was taken into custody last Wednesday after the Central New York SPCA uncovered horrifying conditions in his abandoned residence on U.S. Route 11 in Tully. According to CNY SPCA cruelty investigator Dan Andrianos, officers had been investigating the property since fall 2024, when they first discovered a severely injured pig and a dead calf. The pig’s injuries were so severe that it had to be euthanized.
Despite initial efforts, Kehrer could not be located at the time, as he was not staying at the property.
On March 7, authorities returned to the home after receiving a report of dead animals inside. Upon obtaining a search warrant, investigators made a grisly discovery—four rabbits and a dog, all of whom had perished from neglect and starvation.
Kehrer was finally tracked down and arrested at his workplace in Dryden last Wednesday. He now faces 12 counts of animal cruelty and is scheduled to appear in Tully Municipal Court on April 1.
This deeply disturbing case has sparked outrage in the community, with animal welfare advocates calling for justice. Authorities urge the public to report any cases of suspected animal cruelty to prevent further tragedies like this.
