A tragic incident occurred in Byron, Wyoming, where authorities suspect that a mother fatally shot three of her four daughters before taking her own life. The Big Horn County Sheriff’s Office reported receiving a distressing 911 call around 1:30 p.m. local time on Monday, February 10. The caller, identified as 32-year-old Tranyelle Harshman, informed the dispatcher that gunshots had been fired inside her home and that her children had been shot.
Harshman stated that two of her daughters would be found upstairs in their cribs, while the other two would be in a downstairs bedroom. She also told the dispatcher that she intended to harm herself and could be found in her upstairs bedroom. Despite multiple pleas from the dispatcher to remain on the line, Harshman insisted that it was too late before disconnecting the call.
Law enforcement officers arrived at the scene and discovered Harshman’s 2-year-old and 9-year-old daughters deceased. A 7-year-old daughter and another 2-year-old daughter were found alive but had suffered gunshot wounds to the head. Authorities also found Harshman with a self-inflicted gunshot wound. She was transported to a hospital but later succumbed to her injuries.
One of the surviving 2-year-old girls died at the scene, while the 7-year-old was initially taken to a local hospital before being airlifted to another medical facility for advanced treatment. She sustained a severe traumatic brain injury and remained in critical condition.
Two separate GoFundMe pages have been established to provide financial support to the families of the victims. One page aims to assist the father of the two oldest children as he navigates this devastating loss and supports his critically injured daughter. The other fundraiser is dedicated to helping Harshman’s husband, Cliff, who is the father of the two youngest girls.
Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding this heartbreaking case.
