Curran, who was serving on Trump’s personal security team, is taking over from Ronald Rowe as the new director of the agency.
This decision comes after Curran’s brave actions during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, in July, when he risked his life to stop an attacker and save the president. Trump shared his confidence in Curran, saying, “He proved his fearless courage when he risked his own life to help save mine from an assassin’s bullet in Butler, Pennsylvania.”
The Secret Service had faced heavy criticism from Congress over security concerns following the assassination attempt, leading to the resignation of Director Kimberly Cheatle. With Curran at the helm, Trump believes the agency will grow even stronger.
In addition, Trump appointed conservative activist L. Brent Bozell III as the next CEO of the United States Agency for Global Media. This agency is responsible for overseeing the distribution of broadcast news across the country. Bozell, whose son was sentenced for his role in the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack, was recently granted a pardon under the president’s sweeping decision to pardon those convicted in the event.
