The Orangeburg County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed robbery that took place at the Crown Inn motel, located at 2805 Bamberg Road near Orangeburg. According to an incident report, a woman claimed that an unknown man entered her motel room late Monday night, brandished a firearm, and robbed her of $20,000 in cash along with other valuables.
The incident reportedly occurred around 11 p.m. The woman told deputies that the suspect entered her room and fired a gun. She initially believed she had been shot, as she felt something strike her stomach area. However, the report does not confirm whether she sustained any actual injuries.
The suspect allegedly took the woman’s purse, which contained a significant sum of cash, eight vehicle titles, a Samsung Galaxy cellphone, and multiple forms of identification and bank cards. After collecting the items, the suspect left the room, walked to his vehicle, and fired another shot before leaving the scene.
Law enforcement has not yet released details regarding the suspect’s identity, and no arrests have been reported.
