Hit-and-Run Tragedy: Santa Monica Woman Killed Crossing Wilshire Boulevard

Police in Santa Monica are reaching out to the public for help in finding a suspect involved in a tragic hit-and-run accident that took a woman’s life.

The incident happened on Sunday evening, around 6:40 p.m., near the busy intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Chelsea Avenue. According to the authorities, the victim, a local Santa Monica resident and Vietnam War veteran, was walking across Wilshire Boulevard heading south when she was hit by an eastbound vehicle.

Witnesses at the scene reported that the vehicle was a white Toyota Rav4. Unfortunately, instead of stopping to help, the driver sped away, leaving the woman behind. Paramedics and police responded quickly, but the woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

Santa Monica Police are now asking anyone with information to step forward. Investigators Evan Raleigh and Lantz Lewis can be reached via email at [email protected] or [email protected]. Alternatively, people can call the department’s non-emergency dispatch line at 310-458-8491 or the Watch Commander at 310-458-8427.

This heartbreaking incident has left the community shaken, and the police are hoping that someone may have seen or heard something that could help bring justice for the victim and her family. If you know anything, even if it seems small, your information could make a difference.
