In a recent investigation, House Republicans found something surprising: there’s zero evidence to support the conspiracy theories surrounding the pipe bombs that were discovered near the U.S. Capitol on January 6, 2021.
A detailed 79-page report from the House Judiciary and Administration committees uncovered some interesting facts. According to the FBI, two pipe bombs were planted the day before the Capitol attack — on January 5 — near the headquarters of both the Republican National Committee (RNC) and the Democratic National Committee (DNC).
Now, here’s where things get frustrating: even after nearly four years, the FBI has not identified the person responsible for planting those bombs. And what’s more troubling, the FBI has refused to share any additional leads with the committees trying to get to the bottom of this.
The report points out that the bombs put many people at risk, including lawmakers, law enforcement officers, and residents near the Capitol. Yet, despite the time passed, the American people are left with no answers about who did it or why. This lack of information makes it harder for Congress to improve security and for the public to feel safe knowing the bomber is still out there.
Politico’s Kyle Cheney highlighted something important: this report debunks conspiracy theories that some people, especially MAGA supporters, have pushed about the bombs. Some have suggested the FBI made the whole thing up. In fact, One America News anchor Kara McKinney went as far as calling the bombs a “hoax” — a theory that’s as unsubstantiated as it sounds.
McKinney and other conspiracy theorists even tried to link a government contractor to the bombs, suggesting a connection with Kamala Harris’s visit to the DNC office at the time. They speculated about strange coincidences, like the Secret Service not noticing the bombs. But these ideas? Unfounded and without any proof.
So, what do we actually know? The FBI still hasn’t figured out who planted the bombs. The whole mystery remains unsolved, and Congress is pushing for answers. Meanwhile, the rest of us are left waiting for the truth to come to light.
And let’s face it, the more questions that remain unanswered, the more frustrated we all get. We just want to know: who did it, and why? Until then, we’re stuck with a whole lot of uncertainty.
