In a shocking incident early Thursday morning in Houston, three boys, aged 12 and 13, were shot during an alleged robbery attempt. The chaos unfolded at an apartment complex on N. Houston Rosslyn Road around midnight, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
When deputies arrived, they found a 12-year-old boy on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds. Two others, another 12-year-old and a 13-year-old, were located at a nearby complex. All three were rushed to the hospital. One boy remains in the ICU, while the other two are stable and expected to recover.
A 25-year-old man told authorities the boys had allegedly tried to rob him, pointing guns at him when he arrived home with his girlfriend after a Christmas party. Believing it was initially a prank because of their age, he quickly realized it wasn’t and responded in self-defense. The man is cooperating with the police as the investigation continues.
Neighbors were deeply shaken by the incident. Bruce Bailey, a witness, shared how he ran to help one of the injured boys. “He screamed for help, and I did what I could to keep him alive,” Bailey said.
Police have recovered multiple weapons and are working to determine whether they were real firearms or replicas.
The case will be presented to a grand jury for further review, leaving the community grappling with questions about safety and the heartbreaking choices made that night.
