A Kansas City reporter covering the Super Bowl in New Orleans was found dead in his hotel room, and police have arrested a suspect in connection with the case.
27-year-old Adan Manzano was discovered unresponsive in his hotel room in Kenner, Louisiana, a city just outside of New Orleans. Investigators quickly identified a suspect, Danette Colbert, after reviewing hotel surveillance footage. The footage showed Colbert leaving Manzano’s room, and when police searched her home, they found his credit card and cell phone.
According to Kenner Police Chief Keith Conley, Colbert has a lengthy criminal record, including two past cases where she drugged and stole from her victims. While the current charges against her are related to property crimes, authorities have not ruled out more serious charges as the investigation continues.
Manzano was a well-respected journalist, described as a rising star by his media station in Kansas City. His employer shared a heartfelt statement, calling him a dedicated professional who brought passion to his coverage and made a significant impact on the local community.
Tragically, Manzano’s death comes less than a year after his wife, Ashleigh Boyd, died in a car accident. The couple leaves behind their two-year-old daughter.
Police are still investigating the circumstances surrounding Manzano’s death and have urged anyone with information to come forward.
