A Virginia man was arrested and is now facing multiple drug-related charges following a traffic stop in Currituck County. The incident occurred around 11:15 a.m. when deputies conducted a stop on Timothy Pennington. Upon investigation, authorities discovered that he did not have a valid driver’s license, and the vehicle he was operating had a fraudulent license plate.
According to deputies, Pennington, a 46-year-old resident of Virginia Beach, became uncooperative during the stop. Law enforcement officers reported that he resisted their efforts, which further escalated the situation. As the deputies proceeded with their investigation, they discovered a significant quantity of illegal drugs inside the vehicle.
Following the discovery, Pennington was charged with multiple offenses. These include trafficking cocaine, possession with intent to sell or deliver methamphetamine, possession with intent to sell or deliver cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of marijuana paraphernalia. In addition to the drug-related charges, he was also charged with resisting a public officer, driving while his license was revoked, displaying fictitious registration plates, lacking liability insurance, and maintaining a vehicle with a controlled substance.
As a result of the charges, law enforcement officers seized Pennington’s vehicle. He was subsequently taken into custody and placed in jail with a secured bond set at $250,000. Authorities have not disclosed further details regarding the exact quantity of drugs found in the vehicle or whether Pennington had prior offenses. The case remains under investigation.
