An 83-year-old woman was violently robbed outside a convenience store in Orlando, Florida, just moments after she had picked up her lottery winnings. The whole shocking incident was caught on camera, and now, police are on the hunt for the suspect.
The robbery happened early Wednesday morning around 8 a.m. outside a store on Curry Ford Road. Surveillance footage released by the Orange County Sheriff’s Office shows the elderly woman walking to her car with what appears to be her lottery winnings in hand.
That’s when the suspect, later identified as Diego Stalin Tavarez Fleury, approached her. He tried to grab the money right out of her hand as she struggled to protect it. As she fought back, another man who had been inside the store rushed outside to help. However, the suspect became even more aggressive, continuing to attack the woman in his effort to steal her money.
In the video, you can see Fleury dragging the woman away from her car and pulling her further into the parking lot, all while trying to get the lottery winnings. Despite the good Samaritan’s best efforts to stop him, Fleury eventually succeeded in stealing the money and ran off.
Now, the police are searching for Fleury, who is wanted for robbery, battery, and sudden snatching of property from a person over the age of 65. Authorities have asked anyone who might know where he is to get in touch with the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.
