Man Slashes Cop with Broken Bottle, Bites Another in Shocking Attack

Man Arrested After Allegedly Attacking Two Police Officers at Manhattan Subway Station

A 35-year-old man, identified as Corinthian Hills, was arrested following an alleged attack on two police officers at a Manhattan subway station. The New York City Police Department (NYPD) confirmed the arrest in a statement to PEOPLE on Thursday, February 13. The incident occurred a day prior at the West 4th Street subway station in Manhattan.

According to the NYPD’s Deputy Commissioner of Public Information (DCPI), the incident took place around 3 p.m. when officers were conducting a routine station inspection. During their patrol, they encountered Hills, who was allegedly behaving in a disorderly manner while drinking wine from a glass bottle on the northbound platform serving the A, C, and E subway lines.

As officers approached and attempted to engage Hills in conversation, he reportedly responded with violence. According to the DCPI statement, Hills broke the glass wine bottle he was holding and used the sharp edges to slash one of the officers on the left hand. Following this, as the officers attempted to subdue and arrest him, Hills allegedly bit the second officer on the left leg.

After the altercation, Hills was taken into custody and transported to NYC Health and Hospitals/Bellevue for a medical evaluation. Both injured officers were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment and were reported to be in stable condition.

This violent confrontation adds to a series of recent incidents highlighting safety concerns in New York City’s subway system. The NYPD has been increasing patrols and inspections at subway stations in response to growing public concerns over security.

Authorities have not yet disclosed what charges Hills may face following the alleged attack. Further investigations into the incident are ongoing.
