Deputies in Onslow County, North Carolina, have captured a man following an extensive search in the Ramsey Road and Greer Lane areas. The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office provided an update at 3:50 p.m., confirming the suspect’s apprehension.
Earlier in the day, authorities urged residents in the affected areas to remain indoors while they conducted the search. Law enforcement officials were looking for a suspect described as a Black man wearing a black hoodie, a beanie, and blue jeans. The suspect was considered potentially armed and dangerous.
According to Trevor Dunnell, spokesperson for the sheriff’s office, deputies attempted to stop a suspect accused of stealing a weapon when two individuals fled. One of the men was quickly arrested, but the second suspect remained at large for several hours.
In response, deputies established a perimeter in the area and deployed K9 units and drones to assist in locating the suspect. Law enforcement officers worked methodically to track his movements and ensure the safety of residents.
Authorities had urged the public to report any sightings of an individual matching the suspect’s description by calling 911.
Following an intensive search, deputies successfully located and captured the suspect. The Onslow County Sheriff’s Office has not yet released additional details regarding potential charges or the identity of the suspect.
Residents in the area have been advised that the situation is now under control, and there is no further threat to public safety. Law enforcement officials appreciate the community’s cooperation during the search operation.
