This winter has been tough for many of us, but there’s one pup out there who’s having the time of his life in all the snow! Meet Chewy, a Newfoundland who is absolutely thriving in the chilly weather.
On January 23rd, while most of the snow had already melted away, Chewy’s humans found a perfect patch of snow just for him. They were determined to make his first snow day unforgettable—and they totally succeeded! For Chewy, it was a moment of pure joy.
Now, Chewy isn’t just your average dog. He’s only 3 years old but has already made himself a special place in his family’s heart. His bond with his grandma is so sweet that she even built him a whole fence on her porch just so he could hang out with her! He’s the kind of dog who gets away with making messes and distracting the kids when they should be studying.
While winter might not be Chewy’s human siblings’ favorite time of year, they’re all in when it comes to playing with him in the snow. Even though snow isn’t super common where they live, it’s a treat when it does fall—and Chewy loves every minute of it. For a dog like him, this snowy day was a dream come true!
Chewy’s breed, the Newfoundland, is made for cold weather. With a giant, fluffy coat and lots of body heat, he’s built to stay warm in chilly conditions. Newfoundlands were originally bred in Newfoundland, Canada, to help fishermen. These dogs are not only big enough to be spotted in the water, but their thick fur also keeps them cozy, no matter how cold the water gets. They’re expert swimmers and can even help rescue people in need!
So, while many of us are stuck inside trying to stay warm, Chewy couldn’t be happier running around in the snow, enjoying everything winter has to offer. It’s clear that this winter-loving pup is right where he belongs!
