Get ready, Milwaukee — a mix of rain, snow, and wind is heading your way this week. The National Weather Service is predicting a chilly shift in the weather, with temperatures dropping and a chance of snow by Wednesday afternoon and evening.
It’ll start with rain as temps hover in the mid-40s, but by the time the mercury dips to the mid-30s, we could see that rain turn to snow. Don’t expect a winter wonderland, though — the snow accumulation should stay under half an inch. And with gusty winds up to 35 mph, it’s going to feel even colder out there. The snow chance sticks around until just before midnight, and overnight lows will settle in the mid-20s.
Looking ahead, here’s what the week’s shaping up to be:
Monday: It’s mostly cloudy with a slight chance of rain in the afternoon. Highs will hit around 41°F with a gentle south wind. Rain becomes more likely overnight, with lows around 38°F.
Tuesday: Expect rain most of the day and maybe even a thunderstorm in the afternoon. Temps climb to 50°F before dipping back to 40°F overnight. We could see up to three-quarters of an inch of rain.
Wednesday: This is when things get interesting. Rain sticks around through the morning before turning into snow as temperatures drop from 44°F to about 35°F. Winds pick up, gusting up to 35 mph. Snow accumulation should stay light, under half an inch.
Wednesday Night: The snow might linger before midnight, but it won’t last long. The night will be windy and cold, with lows around 24°F.
Thursday: Sunshine makes a comeback! Expect clear skies and a high near 41°F.
Friday: Another chance of a rain-snow mix returns, but nothing too intense. Highs will be in the low 40s.
The weekend looks brighter, with mostly sunny skies and temps warming up into the high 40s by Sunday. So, while this midweek storm brings a wintry mix, it’s not all doom and gloom — just make sure to bundle up and stay warm!
