An Ohio mother is facing serious charges after a video showing her allegedly abusing her baby shocked viewers and went viral.
Cloe Workman, a 20-year-old from Loveland, Ohio, was arrested on Thursday and charged with two felonies—one for child endangerment and another for domestic violence. The disturbing video, which came to light earlier this week, allegedly shows Workman spitting on her baby’s face, pushing the baby down by the head, and even squirting what looks like dish detergent into the baby’s mouth. Reports say the video was sent to the baby’s father before it spread widely online, sparking outrage.
The alleged abuse happened on Monday, and by Tuesday, people who had seen the video were calling for Workman to be arrested. This led the Loveland Police Department and Child Protective Services to launch an investigation. Initially, Workman was charged with child endangerment, but later in the week, a domestic violence charge was added for the same incident.
Thankfully, the baby girl, who is just over a year old, is now safe. She has been placed in the care of Workman’s grandparents. Meanwhile, the child’s uncle—her father’s brother—has started a GoFundMe campaign to help the baby’s father hire an attorney and seek custody of his daughter.
After being booked into the Hamilton County Jail, Workman was released on her own recognizance. She appeared in court on Friday, where the judge ordered her to wear a 24-hour monitoring device and remain under house arrest until her next court date, set for January 6.
This heartbreaking case has drawn attention to the importance of speaking up against child abuse and ensuring the safety of vulnerable children. The community remains hopeful that justice will be served, and the little girl will have a safe and loving environment moving forward.
