A tragic incident unfolded in Phoenix on Tuesday evening, leaving a community in shock. A woman has been arrested after police say she ran over and killed a ride-share driver during a heated argument.
The scene of this heartbreaking event was near 40th Street and Baseline Road in Phoenix. When officers arrived, they found 31-year-old Jordan Spalding sitting in the driver’s seat of a car parked by a canal. Nearby, they discovered a 74-year-old man, Samuel Webster, lying on the ground with severe injuries. He was rushed to the hospital but sadly didn’t survive.
Investigators learned that Webster was working as a ride-share driver and had given Spalding a ride earlier that evening. At some point during their journey, an argument broke out between the two. Witnesses say the car came to a stop near the canal, and both Webster and Spalding got out.
But what happened next is deeply disturbing. According to police, Spalding got back into the vehicle, took the driver’s seat, and then drove over Webster multiple times.
Spalding was taken into custody and is now facing a second-degree murder charge.
This incident has left many people stunned and grieving for Webster, a man who was simply doing his job. The investigation continues as the community comes to terms with this senseless act of violence.
