A 17-year-old juvenile has been arrested in connection with a shooting incident that occurred in Christopher, Illinois, on the morning of Thursday, January 30. The Christopher Police Department responded to a report of a shooting near the intersection of East Washington Street and Church Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered a male victim who had sustained gunshot wounds to his arm and rib area. The victim was immediately airlifted to a hospital in St. Louis for medical treatment.
Following the incident, Christopher police officers and detectives met with the victim in St. Louis to gather more details, which led to the swift identification of the suspect. Working with the West Frankfort Police Department, local authorities located and apprehended the suspect without incident. The juvenile suspect was subsequently transported to the Christopher Police Department for further questioning.
The 17-year-old has been charged with multiple offenses, including attempted murder, reckless discharge of a firearm, reckless conduct, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, and unlawful use of a weapon. Following the arrest, the suspect was taken to the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and is being held at a juvenile detention center in Missouri.
