After signing the Social Security Fairness Act, Biden took questions from the crowd, but things quickly heated up when the topic shifted to President-elect Donald Trump.
When asked if he still saw Trump as a threat to democracy, Biden didn’t mince words. “I think what he did was a genuine threat to democracy,” he responded. The conversation took a sharp turn when Biden addressed the press directly, making a bold claim:
“I might be the oldest president, but I know more world leaders than any one of you have ever met in your whole goddamn life!”
Unsurprisingly, his comment set social media ablaze. Journalist Salena Zito lightheartedly quipped, “He’s fine guys,” while conservative commentator Steve Guest called Biden “a bitter person.” A writer for RedState even argued that Biden’s comment reflected “Washington credentialism” at its core.
This isn’t the first time Biden has had sharp words for reporters. In November, he humorously deflected a question from an Israeli journalist about brokering a hostage deal, joking, “Do you think you can keep from getting hit in the head by a camera behind you?”
And who could forget his infamous hot mic moment in 2022 when he referred to Fox News’ Peter Doocy as a “stupid son of a b—-”? Doocy later revealed that Biden had called him afterward to smooth things over, insisting it was “nothing personal.”
