Salem Police Arrest Three for DUI in One Day

Salem police arrested three men on driving under the influence (DUI) charges in a single day, along with several other individuals on various charges, according to their latest police log.

  • Shawn Eric Johansen, 42, of Harpswell, Maine, was arrested late Wednesday after allegedly driving over a road sign and speeding down Route 28. Police tracked his vehicle using security cameras and arrested him behind Maddie’s.
  • Derek M. Carbone, 25, of Salem, was arrested at a Taco Bell on South Broadway. He faces multiple charges, including DUI (second offense), breach of bail, and resisting arrest.
  • Christopher Vega, 23, of Salem, was arrested after crashing into a utility pole on Hampshire Street. He faces charges of aggravated DUI (0.16+ BAC) and negligent driving.
