Serious Crash in Carter County: Man Flown to Hospital for Treatment

A man from Southeast Missouri sustained serious injuries following a single-vehicle crash in Carter County. The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported that the accident took place around 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 6, while the vehicle was traveling westbound on Noble Street in Ellsinore.

According to the crash report, the incident involved a 2002 Chevrolet Avalanche, which lost control and collided with multiple objects before coming to a stop. The vehicle first struck a building, then a mailbox, followed by a parked car before ultimately crashing into a tree. The force of these impacts resulted in significant damage to both the vehicle and the surrounding property.

The driver, identified as a 49-year-old man from Ellsinore, suffered serious injuries as a result of the crash. Emergency responders arrived at the scene and arranged for an Air EVAC helicopter to transport him to St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau for medical treatment.

Authorities noted that the driver was not wearing a safety device at the time of the accident, which may have contributed to the severity of his injuries. The Missouri State Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances leading up to the crash.
