Shocking Abuse: Minnesota Man Accused of Holding, Beating, and Scalding Girlfriend

A 22-year-old man from St. Paul, Minnesota, Jabari Junior, has been charged with two counts of felony kidnapping and multiple assault charges after allegedly holding his 19-year-old girlfriend captive, beating her, and burning her with boiling water over several days. Junior is currently held in the Ramsey County Jail following his first court appearance.

The investigation began on Wednesday when Metro Transit officers found the victim at a bus stop near Junior’s apartment. She was rushed to the hospital with severe burns to her face, arms, and torso, as well as a stab wound to her left shin. The victim also had facial swelling, making it difficult for her to open her right eye. Doctors reported that her hospital gown adhered to her open wounds, causing additional pain.

The victim told police that Junior and another man had kidnapped her from Chicago in November and forced her into prostitution. Over the period from January 27 to January 29, Junior allegedly repeatedly assaulted her, burning her with boiling water. On January 27, after an argument about her talking to other men, Junior became violent. He shaved her head, threatening to make her look like a man, and poured boiling water on her. He also choked her while holding a butcher’s knife, and when she tried to fight back, he stabbed her in the leg.

The victim tried to escape multiple times, but Junior stopped her, even taking her to the Wabasha Bridge and encouraging her to jump. He also destroyed her bus ticket when she planned to leave for Chicago. The victim described Junior’s behavior as erratic, with moments of kindness followed by further abuse.

Junior was eventually arrested after the victim managed to call 911. Police found evidence at his apartment, including fresh hair clippings and pots matching the descriptions of those used for the boiling water attacks. Junior initially claimed the victim had been attacked by another man, but later admitted to the abuse, including the stabbing and water dumping, though he insisted it was accidental.
