A 23-year-old man has been charged with murder in connection with a fatal shooting that took place in Rocky Mount last Wednesday, according to the Rocky Mount Police Department. Authorities identified the suspect as Shakur Battle and the victim as Donnell Williams.
The shooting occurred around 12:30 p.m. in the 4100 block of Layola Avenue. When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a man who had been fatally wounded. Emergency responders confirmed that the victim had succumbed to his injuries before further medical assistance could be provided.
Following an investigation, police determined that Battle was responsible for the shooting. He was subsequently charged with first-degree murder and taken into custody. Authorities transported him to Nash County Jail, where he is being held without bond.
