Dorchester County, S.C. – A disturbing incident has rocked Clay Hill Elementary School as a teacher has been arrested for allegedly assaulting a student.
Authorities confirmed that Ruth Jones Stephens was taken into custody on Wednesday following an investigation by the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office. Stephens, a teacher at the elementary school, now faces allegations of simple assault involving one of her students.

“Today, Ruth Jones Stephens was arrested in connection with the simple assault of a student at Clay Hill Elementary School. Stephens was subsequently released from the L.C. Knight Detention Center after a bond hearing,” Wright stated.
