A 41-year-old man from Tennessee has been accused of killing an 18-year-old after discovering him in bed with his wife. Authorities say Jonathan Belk, of Dunlap, allegedly stabbed Billy J. Floyd to death early Saturday morning after coming home and finding Floyd with his 31-year-old wife, Jada Gholston.
According to police reports cited by News Channel 9, Belk also allegedly attacked his wife, stabbing her as well. Gholston survived the assault and received medical treatment at a local hospital. After the attack, Belk reportedly attempted to conceal Floyd’s body by placing it in a trash can. Authorities discovered the victim’s remains in the fetal position.
When officers arrived at the scene, they found Belk standing in the doorway of his home, covered in blood. Reports indicate that Belk also had injuries on his body, though it remains unclear how he sustained them.
During police questioning, Belk reportedly expressed concern about the impact of his actions on his marriage. According to News Channel 9, he told investigators, “I am worried about my relationship with my wife due to the fact that I offed him.”
Following his arrest, Belk was charged with criminal homicide and additional offenses. The exact charges he faces have not been fully disclosed by authorities.
Floyd’s family and friends are mourning his death, remembering him for his love of outdoor activities such as hunting, fishing, and riding four-wheelers. His obituary highlights his passion for working on various mechanical projects and spending time with loved ones. To assist with funeral expenses, Floyd’s family has launched a GoFundMe campaign.
Authorities from the Sequatchie County Sheriff’s Office have yet to issue an official statement regarding the case. It is unclear whether Belk has secured legal representation at this time.
