Shocking Fall: Retired Olympian Accused of Drug Trafficking, Murders Now FBI’s Most Wanted

Ryan James Wedding, a 43-year-old former Olympic snowboarder who competed for Team Canada in the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, Utah, has been added to the FBI’s Ten Most Wanted Fugitives List. The FBI announced on March 6 that Wedding is wanted for allegedly running a transnational drug trafficking network and orchestrating multiple murders and attempted murders.

The U.S. Department of State is offering a $10 million reward for information leading to Wedding’s arrest or conviction. Additionally, the FBI is offering a $50,000 reward for information that results in his apprehension, arrest, and extradition. Investigators believe Wedding currently resides in Mexico but have not ruled out the possibility that he may be in the United States or Canada.

According to the FBI, Wedding and his alleged second-in-command, Andrew Clark, were charged in a California indictment in June 2024 with running a continuing criminal enterprise, committing murder in connection with this enterprise, and various drug-related offenses. Prosecutors claim Wedding’s organization regularly shipped large quantities of cocaine from Colombia through Mexico and Southern California before distributing it in Canada and the United States.

A superseding indictment in September 2024 named 14 additional defendants and included new charges against Wedding and Clark, including an attempted murder count. The indictment alleges that the group used a Canada-based transportation network to smuggle hundreds of kilograms of cocaine from Southern California into Canada. Authorities also claim Wedding and Clark resorted to violence, including multiple murders, to maintain control over the drug trade.

One such incident allegedly took place in November 2023, when Wedding and Clark are accused of ordering the murders of two members of a family in Ontario, Canada, as retaliation for a stolen drug shipment. A third family member survived the attack but sustained serious injuries.

Clark was arrested by Mexican authorities in October 2024 and was among 29 fugitives extradited to the United States in late February. If convicted, both Wedding and Clark face a mandatory minimum sentence of life in federal prison.
