Mexican authorities have arrested Yolanda Marodi, the wife of slain Cal Fire Captain Rebecca Marodi, for her alleged murder. Rebecca was found dead in their Ramona home last month, sparking a month-long manhunt.
Authorities say Rebecca’s mother called 911 after witnessing a violent struggle through a Ring camera live feed. Chilling audio captured Rebecca pleading, “Yolanda, please, I don’t want to die,” to which Yolanda allegedly responded, “You should have thought of that before.”
Following the murder, Yolanda fled to Mexico with a small white dog. She was located near a Mexicali hotel and handed over to U.S. law enforcement. She now faces murder charges.
This isn’t her first violent crime—she previously served 13 years in prison for fatally stabbing her former spouse in 2000.
Rebecca, a firefighter since 1993, was a respected Cal Fire Captain, promoted in 2022. Her tragic death has left colleagues devastated.
“Becky was a beloved member of our community and Department, and we miss her greatly,” Cal Fire stated.
As the investigation unfolds, the community mourns the loss of a dedicated firefighter while seeking justice for Rebecca Marodi.
