More than a year after three Kansas City Chiefs fans were found dead outside a home, two people have finally been arrested and charged in connection with their tragic deaths. Ricky Johnson, David Harrington, and Clayton McGeeney were discovered lifeless on January 9, 2024 — just days after watching a Chiefs game together. Now, authorities believe they know why.
On March 5, the Kansas City Missouri Police Department announced that two men, Jordan Willis and Ivory Carson, had been arrested and charged. They face serious accusations, including involuntary manslaughter and drug distribution. Platte County Prosecutor Eric Zahnd said both are being held on a $100,000 cash bond.
Investigators say evidence points to drugs being involved in the deaths. Police found two plastic bags with white powdery substances at the scene — one tested positive for cocaine and the other for fentanyl. According to Zahnd, DNA tests linked Willis and Carson to the bags. Witnesses also claimed that the three friends were seen using drugs at Willis’ house the night of the game.
Autopsy results later confirmed that the men died from a mix of fentanyl and cocaine, a dangerous and often deadly combination.
The case has drawn a lot of attention, with friends and family demanding answers. Willis’ lawyer, John Picerno, insists his client is innocent and had no idea his friends were in danger when they left his house that night. He also expressed surprise at the charges, saying prosecutors previously suggested they didn’t expect this outcome.
The heartbreaking discovery happened when McGeeney’s fiancée went looking for him and found one of the bodies on Willis’ porch. The other two men were later found in the backyard. Their cars were still parked on the street, leading to more questions about what really happened that night.
As the investigation continues, the families of the victims hope for justice — and some much-needed closure after more than a year of pain and uncertainty.
