A major break has been made in a burglary and murder case that rocked the small town of North Judson, Indiana. The Starke County Sheriff’s Office announced that they arrested a woman named Brittnie Kanschat, 41, of Leiters Ford, on February 28. Her arrest is linked to the tragic killing of Landin Minix in December 2024.
Authorities say Kanschat was dating Timothy Minix at the time of the crime. Timothy, who is Landin Minix’s son, was arrested on December 7, 2024, and charged with his father’s murder.
As detectives dug deeper into the case, they uncovered evidence suggesting that Kanschat played a role in the burglary of Landin Minix’s home. Investigators believe she helped Timothy commit the crime, leading to her arrest.
Following her detention, deputies submitted a report to the Starke County Prosecutor’s Office, which has now officially charged Kanschat with Assisting a Criminal, a Level 5 Felony.
She is currently being held at the Starke County Justice Center, with her bond set at $10,000 cash.
