Morgan Geyser, one of the women involved in the infamous Waukesha Slender Man stabbing case, is heading back to court this Thursday to ask for her release. This comes nearly a decade after the shocking incident that took place in 2014, where she and Anissa Weier attacked their friend Payton Leutner, reportedly to gain the favor of a fictional internet character called Slender Man.
Back in April, a judge denied Geyser’s request to be released, citing mixed opinions from her doctors at the Winnebago Mental Health Institute. Since then, she has withdrawn her request twice before, only to try again now.
Payton Leutner’s mother, Stacie Leutner, shared her thoughts on the matter. In a statement, she said, “Morgan Geyser has withdrawn her request to be released twice. More recently, her request was denied. We are confident that the judicial system will make a decision that will ensure the community, and my daughter remain safe.”
The case gained national attention when Geyser and Weier, both just 12 years old at the time, lured Payton into the woods in Waukesha, Wisconsin, and stabbed her 19 times. Miraculously, Payton survived and was able to crawl to safety. The chilling reason behind their actions—a desire to appease Slender Man—left many shocked and bewildered.
Now, all eyes are on the Waukesha courtroom, where the judge will decide whether Geyser should remain in the mental health facility or be released. It’s a tense situation for everyone involved, especially for the Leutner family, who continue to seek justice and peace after the horrific event.
