A woman from Colorado is behind bars after a traffic stop in Dawson County, Nebraska, led to some serious drug charges.
The Nebraska State Patrol said 45-year-old Misty Titus, from Greeley, was pulled over on Friday for speeding along Interstate 80 near Lexington. When the trooper asked for her ID, something unusual caught their eye—a marijuana dispensary bag inside her purse. That discovery led to a closer look at her vehicle, and what they found was shocking.
Hidden in the false bottom of a travel mug behind her seat, the troopers uncovered 1.9 ounces of methamphetamine and 1.6 ounces of cocaine. Titus was immediately arrested and taken to the Dawson County Detention Center. Her bond was set at $50,000, with 10 percent required to get out.
Titus is now facing several charges, including possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, possession of cocaine, and having an open alcohol container in the vehicle.
A woman from Kearney, who was riding in the passenger seat, didn’t walk away without consequences either. She was cited for having an open container of alcohol and possessing less than an ounce of marijuana.
For Titus, the legal road ahead looks tough. She’s due for a preliminary hearing on January 28, where the next steps in her case will be decided.
