Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Kadarius Toney was arrested on February 6 in Douglasville, Georgia, on charges of aggravated assault and obstruction of an emergency call. The arrest stems from an alleged incident on January 14 at Toney’s residence. According to an arrest warrant obtained by PEOPLE, Toney allegedly strangled a woman with enough force to leave red marks on her neck and cause petechial hemorrhaging in her eyes.
A separate warrant accuses Toney of obstructing the alleged victim’s attempt to call 911. Reports indicate that he took her phone away and canceled voice commands meant to contact emergency services while physically assaulting her. Following the incident, authorities issued arrest warrants on January 15, leading to his detention in early February.
Douglas County jail records confirm that Toney was taken into custody and later released on February 7 after posting bond. The court set bail at $25,000 for each charge. TMZ was the first to report the arrest.
Toney, who has won two Super Bowls with the Chiefs, has played a key role as a wide receiver for the team since being traded from the New York Giants in 2022. Before his tenure with the Chiefs, he had a brief stint with the Cleveland Browns, appearing in three games during the previous season. His future with the Chiefs remains uncertain following these legal issues.
