The Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office has arrested three individuals in connection with a larceny incident on Brothers Road in La Grange, North Carolina. Authorities say the arrests follow an attempted theft at a residence located at 4286 Brothers Road.
Deputies responded last Thursday to a report of a larceny in progress. However, by the time they arrived, the suspects had already fled the scene. According to the victim, the suspects had previously attempted to steal an Airburst Well the night before but were unsuccessful due to its weight. The well was later discovered in a nearby ditch.
The victim informed investigators that the suspects returned the next day to make another attempt at stealing the well. This time, they also tried to take metal pipes intended for the well’s installation.
A short time later, deputies patrolling the area near Brothers Road and W.P. Hardy Road located and apprehended two of the suspects. They were identified as 39-year-old Christopher Mewborn of Snow Hill and 30-year-old Makayla Raynor of Lenoir County. Both individuals were taken into custody and charged with felony larceny and felony conspiracy.
The third suspect, 28-year-old Corey Watson of Lenoir County, was arrested the following Monday afternoon. He was also charged with felony larceny and felony conspiracy.
Authorities have not disclosed additional details regarding the suspects’ motives or whether any of the stolen property was recovered. The investigation remains ongoing.
