MANITOWOC, WI – A 55-year-old man from Manitowoc is in custody after a tense overnight standoff with police on Monday morning. The situation began around 1 a.m. when Manitowoc police responded to a call at a residence on the 1300 block of S. 9th St., where the man had barricaded himself inside his home.
Authorities quickly called for the Manitowoc County SWAT team and a team of crisis negotiators to handle the situation. For several hours, negotiators attempted to communicate with the man in hopes of convincing him to surrender peacefully. However, after their efforts were exhausted, the SWAT team was forced to enter the home.
The man was safely taken into custody without incident, and he is now facing multiple charges. The expected charges include fleeing and eluding an officer, second-degree recklessly endangering safety, resisting an officer, and bail jumping.
