Tennessee Thieves Use Live Pythons in Bizarre Convenience Store Heist

Tennessee police are on the hunt for four suspects accused of pulling off a bizarre robbery—with pythons as their weapon of choice.

Authorities in Madison County released surveillance images of the unusual crime, hoping the public can help identify the two men and two women involved. The group allegedly walked into a Citgo convenience store on March 4 and stole $400 worth of CBD oil. But it wasn’t just a typical grab-and-run—witnesses say they waved live pythons around, even placing them on the store counter.

Store employee Mayur Raval, who was working at the time, recalled the unsettling scene. “They were just waving the snakes around,” he told local news. He described one of the pythons as white and the other as a mix of brown shades.

Raval believes the group had planned the robbery carefully. “They pulled their car right up to the front door,” he said. “I think they were hoping to get away with more, but there were too many people around.” The getaway vehicle was an older-model sedan, its trunk secured with bungee cords.

Pythons, while not venomous, are known for their strength. Some species can grow over 30 feet long and weigh up to 250 pounds. They kill by wrapping around their prey and squeezing until the victim suffocates—a fact that makes their use in a robbery especially disturbing.

Police are urging anyone with information to come forward as they continue their search for the snake-wielding thieves.
