Police in Austin, Texas, are searching for suspects after Jamie White, a reporter for InfoWars, was fatally shot outside his apartment complex late Sunday night. InfoWars is a website run by conspiracy theorist Alex Jones and is based in Austin.
Authorities say the incident occurred around 11:56 p.m. when White, 36, encountered individuals attempting to break into his Kia. Detective Jason Jones of the Austin Police Department stated in a news conference that White interrupted the suspects during the break-in. In response, the suspects shot him and fled the scene.
White was found lying in the parking lot and was pronounced dead at the scene. The suspects’ getaway car, which had been reported stolen a few days prior, has since been recovered by police. Authorities believe the suspects may have been involved in other car break-ins in the area.
Detective Jason Jones urged Austin residents to exercise caution if they witness someone breaking into a vehicle. He advised residents not to intervene directly but instead call 911 and provide as much information as possible about the suspects and their vehicle.
Alex Jones, the founder of InfoWars, expressed grief over White’s death, posting on X (formerly Twitter) that the organization is committed to ensuring justice is served. He called the killing “senseless violence” and pledged that White’s death would not be in vain.
Police continue to investigate the shooting and are urging anyone with information to come forward. Tips can be submitted to Austin police at 512-974-TIPS or through Crime Stoppers at 512-472-8477. Authorities emphasized that the suspects in this case have demonstrated a disregard for human life, and efforts to locate and apprehend them remain a top priority.
