A 12-year-old boy from Boscawen, New Hampshire, is in the hospital recovering after a tree fell on him while he was walking home from school. The incident occurred on Friday when Kyle Murray was heading home from his school bus stop. According to the Boscawen Police Department, strong winds caused a spruce tree to fall directly on top of him.
Emergency responders transported Kyle to a local hospital before he was transferred to Boston Children’s Hospital in critical condition. Due to the severity of his injuries, doctors placed him in a medically induced coma to stabilize him.
According to Hannah Littlefield, who organized a GoFundMe campaign to support Kyle and his family, he sustained multiple serious injuries. These include two small brain bleeds, brain swelling, a lacerated spleen, multiple fractured ribs, a broken pelvis, severed arteries in his pelvis, internal bleeding in his bladder, a broken ankle, and fluid buildup in his abdomen. His condition required immediate medical intervention.
Kyle underwent pelvic surgery on Monday, and by Tuesday, doctors removed his breathing tube. His mother, Danielle Murray, shared an emotional update about his progress, saying that he was able to reach out to her for a hug and a kiss. She described the moment as deeply moving and a sign of his strength.
Danielle expressed her gratitude for the progress her son has made so far, celebrating each milestone in his recovery. The community has rallied around Kyle and his family, offering support through donations and messages of encouragement.
Medical professionals continue to monitor Kyle’s condition closely as he recovers from the traumatic event. His journey to healing is expected to take time, but his recent improvements have given his family hope.
