Three individuals in Louisiana have been arrested and charged following the death of a three-year-old child who was brought to a local hospital. The Bienville Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to the hospital on February 12 after medical personnel reported that a deceased toddler had arrived at the emergency room.
Following the incident, authorities launched an investigation and conducted an autopsy, which raised concerns about possible physical abuse leading to the child’s death. As part of the inquiry, law enforcement officers also checked on the well-being of a 14-year-old who lived in the same household.
After gathering sufficient evidence, the Bienville Parish Sheriff’s Office issued arrest warrants for the individuals who transported the toddler to the hospital. The suspects were identified as Kewanna Lard, Dewanequa Lard, and Szysznk Dewayne Phillips. Each of them is now facing charges related to cruelty to juveniles, though officials have not disclosed the specific nature of their alleged involvement.
Authorities have not provided additional details about the circumstances leading to the child’s death or the condition of the 14-year-old. The identities of the juveniles involved have not been released to the public.
The investigation remains ongoing as law enforcement officials continue to examine evidence and determine whether additional charges may be necessary. Authorities have urged anyone with relevant information to come forward to assist in the case.
