The driver of the Nissan Titan was transported by ambulance to Southeast Health of Stoddard County in Dexter but was later transferred to Mercy South in St. Louis for further medical treatment. Despite efforts to save him, the Dexter man was pronounced dead at 9:22 p.m. at Mercy South.
The woman driving the Dodge Citadel was airlifted by Air EVAC to St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She sustained serious injuries and was receiving treatment at the hospital. The Missouri State Highway Patrol confirmed that the woman was wearing a safety device (seatbelt) at the time of the crash. Unfortunately, the driver of the Nissan Titan was not wearing a safety device.
