A late-night tragedy unfolded on University City Boulevard when gunfire erupted, leaving one person dead and two others injured. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police responded to a 911 call around 11 p.m. on Sunday, December 29, in the 7800 block of University Boulevard, just east of North Tryon Street.
When officers arrived, they found a male victim with a gunshot wound. Despite quick efforts to save him, he was rushed to Atrium Main, where he was sadly pronounced dead. The police haven’t shared the victim’s identity yet, but their focus is now on finding out who’s responsible for the crime.
Meanwhile, two other victims were also found at the scene and were immediately taken to Atrium Health University for treatment. While their injuries are serious, details about their condition have not been shared at this time.
The investigators are still working to understand the motive behind the shootings, and the community is being urged to help in any way they can.
