Actor Isaiah Stokes, known for roles in Law & Order: SVU, Power, and Blue Bloods, has been sentenced to 25 years to life for the 2021 murder of Tyrone Jones.
Stokes, 45, was convicted of second-degree murder and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. The court heard that he stalked Jones for four months after an altercation at a birthday party. On February 7, 2021, in Queens, New York, Stokes ambushed Jones, shooting him 11 times in his parked car.
Judge Kenneth Holder condemned Stokes’ actions, stating, “You planned a murder and carried it out in the most foolish way possible.” Stokes reportedly interrupted the sentencing, prompting the judge’s stern rebuke.
Queens District Attorney Melinda Katz called the crime “calculated” and emphasized the fight against gun violence. Stokes had placed a GPS tracker on Jones’ car, tracking his movements before executing the attack.
Jones’ family branded Stokes a “monster,” mourning the loss of a beloved son, brother, and uncle. With this sentencing, prosecutors hope to send a strong message against premeditated violence and reckless gun crimes.
