Twerk and Run: Porch Pirates Steal Packages and Return for the Most Bizarre Reason

A bizarre and somewhat amusing crime story unfolded in Sicklerville, New Jersey, leaving both the local community and law enforcement scratching their heads. A pair of porch pirates were caught on a Ring doorbell camera stealing packages from a home, but it wasn’t just their theft that grabbed attention—it was their bold dance moves and surprising return to the scene of the crime.

It all started on the evening of Monday, December 9, 2024, in the Independence Square Townhomes, a neighborhood in Sicklerville, about 100 miles southwest of Manhattan. According to the Gloucester Township Police Department, two individuals approached a home around 6:36 p.m. One of them, dubbed Suspect 1, swiped an Amazon package containing four glasses and baby items worth $74. Meanwhile, the other, Suspect 2, decided to put on a show, twerking for the homeowner’s Ring camera before both fled the scene.

The homeowner, understandably upset, shared the video on the Ring Neighbors app under its “Safety and Security” section. This was meant to alert others in the neighborhood and possibly help identify the thieves.

What happened next could only be described as unbelievable. Two days later, on Wednesday, December 11, around 7:02 p.m., the same pair of porch pirates returned to the very house they had stolen from. This time, they were there to complain.

According to police, Suspect 1 stayed across the street while Suspect 2 approached the Ring camera again, holding up their phone to show the app where the video had been posted. Suspect 2 was recorded saying, “Come on dude, not cool bro, come on not cool… that’s my a– on the internet!” before running back across the street. But the saga didn’t end there. Just minutes later, at 7:10 p.m., Suspect 2 came back, this time holding one of the stolen glasses, now broken. Placing it on the doorstep, they said, “Uh, I meant to give this back,” before fleeing again.

Adding to the oddity, Suspect 2 was reportedly wearing a sweatshirt featuring the word “Hollywood” and lines from the iconic 1995 song “California Love” by 2Pac and Dr. Dre.

The police department shared both videos online, humorously titling their report “You Can’t Make This Stuff Up.” They are now asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Gloucester Township Police Department at 856-228-4500 or leave an anonymous tip at 856-842-5560.

This strange tale of theft, twerking, and regret has left many chuckling, but police are reminding everyone that package theft is a serious crime. Stay vigilant and keep your porch pirates at bay!
