U.S. Military Strikes Targets in Yemen After Houthi Attacks on Ships

The U.S. military has launched precision strikes on Houthi targets in Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, in response to attacks on American warships and commercial vessels. These strikes, which began on Monday and continued into Tuesday, were aimed at weakening the Iran-backed rebels who have been a growing threat in the region.

The strikes hit several key facilities, including a Houthi command center and storage areas for missiles and drones used in their operations. U.S. Navy and Air Force planes also destroyed coastal radar sites and cruise missiles. CENTCOM, the U.S. military’s central command, confirmed that the operation caused no damage or injuries to American forces.

A few witnesses from Sanaa reported hearing multiple explosions and seeing several strikes in different parts of the city, including on the Defense Ministry. The Houthis were quick to label the strikes as “American aggression” and a violation of Yemen’s sovereignty, accusing the U.S. of supporting Israel.

The tensions in Yemen have been rising, with the Houthis firing missiles at Israel and vessels in the Red Sea, all in the name of supporting Palestinians in the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict.
