A former restaurant manager in Florida has been arrested and charged after allegedly throwing hot grease on customers during an altercation. The incident, which took place on January 28, was captured on surveillance video and is now part of the police investigation.
According to authorities, the footage shows Carnael Irene engaging in a heated conversation with a customer at the carryout line. Another employee can be seen behind her, attempting to get her attention. As the exchange becomes more intense, Irene moves closer to the window while holding her hand to her ear, appearing to gesture in response to the customer.
At one point, another customer intervenes, and an employee tries to pull Irene away in an effort to de-escalate the situation. Despite these attempts, the altercation continues. Police say Irene then took a squirt bottle of ranch dressing and sprayed it on two customers before briefly leaving the area.
The situation escalated further when Irene returned holding a metal container. Law enforcement officials state that she then threw hot grease at the customers, hitting both individuals, one of whom was a minor. The victims sustained burns on their legs from the grease.
Authorities responded to the incident, and Irene was later taken into custody. She was booked into the St. Lucie County Jail and now faces charges of child abuse and battery.
Officials from the Port St. Lucie Police Department commented that while such incidents are not common in their area, they have seen an increase in similar cases. Law enforcement continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the altercation.
