A tragic incident in Byron, Wyoming, has left a community in shock after Tranyelle Harshman allegedly shot her four daughters before taking her own life on February 10. Authorities report that Harshman fatally shot three of her daughters—2-year-old twins Brooke and Jordan, and 9-year-old Brailey—while her 7-year-old daughter, Olivia, survived.
Harshman called 911 at approximately 1:30 p.m. to report the shooting. She informed the dispatcher that she believed her children were dead and provided their locations inside the home. She also stated that she intended to take her own life. Despite efforts by the dispatcher to keep her on the line, she ended the call before officers arrived. Responding authorities discovered Harshman and the children with gunshot wounds to the head. Harshman was transported to a hospital but later succumbed to her injuries. Olivia was taken to a local hospital and then airlifted to another medical facility for further treatment.
Cliff Harshman, Tranyelle’s husband, expressed grief and disbelief over the tragedy, stating that his wife had been struggling with mental health issues, including postpartum depression and PTSD. He emphasized that she had been receiving treatment and that the incident was entirely out of character. Despite his anger over her actions, he acknowledged his loss, stating that he still loved her.
Quinn Blackmer, the father of Olivia and Brailey, shared his devastation and frustration, expressing anger toward Tranyelle but also recognizing that his focus needed to be on Olivia’s recovery. He described Olivia and Brailey as kind, respectful, and loving children.
A GoFundMe page was established to support Olivia’s medical expenses. According to updates, Olivia underwent an exploratory brain procedure, with scans showing expected swelling but no major blood vessel damage. Doctors continue to monitor her condition closely.
This heartbreaking case highlights the severe impact of mental illness and the devastating consequences it can have on families. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances leading up to the tragedy.
