A 29-year-old man found himself in a heated argument that quickly turned dangerous in Chicago’s Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood on Sunday night. It all happened around 8:30 p.m. at an apartment complex in the 6500 block of South Martin Luther King Jr. Drive.
According to police, the man was caught up in a verbal altercation with three other men inside the building. Things escalated, and before anyone could stop it, gunshots rang out. During the exchange of fire, the 29-year-old was hit twice in the leg.
Emergency responders rushed him to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where he received treatment. But the story didn’t end there — after being treated, he was taken into custody. Police haven’t shared the details yet on why he was arrested, but they did confirm that a weapon was found at the scene.
Thankfully, no other injuries were reported. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are working to piece together exactly what led to the gunfire. The community is left shaken, wondering what could have prevented such a violent incident.
