Gun Charges Filed Against Two Boys in Elizabeth City, Authorities Say

Two boys are facing charges in Elizabeth City, North Carolina, after being caught with firearms and counterfeit money. The Elizabeth City Police Department responded to a report around 12:25 p.m. of two boys sitting in a vehicle outside the 625 Building of Morgan Pointe Apartments. One of the boys was allegedly displaying a gun while wearing a ski mask.

Upon arriving at the scene, officers detained two individuals matching the description provided by the caller. During their search, police recovered a rifle, a handgun, and several fake twenty-dollar bills from the vehicle. As a result, the boys were charged with possession of a firearm by a minor, as well as resisting, delaying, or obstructing a law enforcement officer.

Additionally, one of the boys was charged with assaulting a law enforcement officer and felony possession of counterfeit U.S. currency. Both boys were taken into custody and transported to a juvenile detention facility, where they will face further legal proceedings.

The police have stated that the investigation is ongoing and have encouraged anyone with information regarding the incident to contact the Elizabeth City Police Department at (252) 335-4321. The department is seeking further details as they continue to probe the circumstances surrounding the possession of firearms and counterfeit money by minors.
