A Florida mom has landed in serious trouble after allegedly involving her teenage son in a crime. Linda Maria Palacio, a 39-year-old from Miami, was arrested and charged with burglary and grand theft, along with some additional misdemeanor charges. According to authorities, she reportedly broke into a man’s apartment with the help of her son to steal cash and cigarettes.
The incident happened on November 13 in Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood. Police say Palacio and her son, believed to be between 13 and 15 years old, forced their way into the apartment. The boy, whose face was covered with a towel, was caught on a Ring security camera opening the door and letting his mom inside. Palacio, also wearing a mask, was reportedly seen on the footage showing her son where a jar containing $1,300 in cash was kept. The jar also had a carton of cigarettes worth $200.
The victim, who had been in an on-and-off relationship with Palacio for about ten years, reported the burglary to the police. He identified Palacio as the culprit, leading to her arrest. Both Palacio and her son were taken into custody on January 7. While the teenager gave a statement to the police, it hasn’t been released since he’s a minor.
When questioned, Palacio allegedly became loud and uncooperative, especially when shown the footage from the Ring camera. Authorities say she even tried to cover up the camera during the break-in but not before it captured enough evidence to link her to the crime.
Palacio is currently being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in Miami-Dade County. She’s awaiting a hearing for her burglary charge, and her bond hasn’t been set yet. Meanwhile, she has another hearing scheduled for Friday to address the misdemeanor charges.
This incident has shocked the local community, especially with a teenager allegedly being dragged into such a situation. It’s a reminder of how bad choices can quickly spiral out of control, affecting not just the person making them but those around them as well.
