Gunfire Chaos in Surprise: Teen Hospitalized and Two Arrested After Botched Firearm Deal

In Surprise, Arizona, a 16-year-old boy was rushed to the hospital after being shot during a chaotic incident on Monday night, authorities revealed on Wednesday.

The shooting happened near 140th Avenue and Greenway Road around 11 p.m. when two groups met up to exchange firearms. However, things quickly went wrong, and both sides started shooting at each other. Amid the gunfire, the teenager was struck by a bullet.

Before police officers arrived, the injured boy was taken to the hospital, where he was reported to be in serious but stable condition.

Surprise Police Department investigators combed through witness accounts and checked security footage from nearby houses to piece together what happened. This led them to arrest 21-year-old Osvaldo Javier Rojas, who now faces several serious charges, including three counts of aggravated assault, one count of armed robbery, and one count of firing a gun within city limits.

In addition, 19-year-old Kevin Schwahn was arrested for allegedly trying to hinder the investigation.
